These breeds may not readily display affection towards people they don't know well. On the other hand, there are breeds known for their friendly and social nature treating everyone they know - including family members and friends - as their best friends. These breeds are generally more outgoing and open to forming bonds with different individuals.
LOVE WITH CHILDREN
Unwise
Good With Children
The level of tolerance and patience a breed exhibits towards children's conduct, as well as its overall suitability for families is of utmost importance. It is vital to supervise dogs at all times when they are in the presence of young children or children who have limited interaction with canines.
BEHAVIOR WITH DOGS
Unwise
Good With Other Dogs
The general friendliness of a breed towards other dogs can vary. While it is important to supervise interactions and introductions between dogs regardless of breed, some breeds tend to be more predisposed to getting along well with other dogs both in a home environment and in public. Certain breeds are known for their social and amiable nature, often displaying a friendly and welcoming attitude towards other dogs. They may be more open to forming positive relationships, engaging in play, and enjoying the company of other dogs.
SHEDDING LEVELS & MANAGEMENT
No Shedding
Hair Everywhere
The amount of fur and hair that a breed tends to shed should be considered. Breeds that shed heavily will require more frequent brushing and they are more likely to cause specific allergies. Additionally, they may necessitate more regular vacuuming and lint-rolling to maintain cleanliness.

Daily
The grooming requirements of a breed, including bathing, brushing, trimming, and other coat maintenance, should be taken into consideration. LIVELINESS
Only When You Want To Play
Non-Stop
The level of enthusiasm a breed displays towards play, even beyond the puppy stage, is worth considering. Some breeds will maintain a strong desire to engage in activities like tug-of-war or fetch well into their adult years. Conversely, other breeds will exhibit contentment in simply relaxing on the couch with you for the majority of their time.
VIGILANCE INTENSITY
What's Mine Is Yours
Vigilant
It's worth considering a breed's inclination to notify you of the presence of strangers. Such breeds are likely to warm up to strangers who enter the house and are accepted by their family.
ADAPTATION CAPACITY

Grooming

+
The Danish-Swedish Farmdog is described as an easy breed to groom, care for, and maintain. They are considered low maintenance requiring only occasional brushing and baths to keep them clean and looking their best. It's important to note that regular brushing helps to remove loose hair and maintain the coat's condition. In terms of nail care, using a nail clipper or grinder to trim their nails is recommended to prevent overgrowth, splitting, and cracking. Checking their ears regularly and cleaning them as needed helps to prevent wax buildup and potential ear infections. Exercise

+
Daily exercise is highly recommended to ensure proper conditioning and overall well-being for the Danish-Swedish Farmdog. There are various options for exercise that can suit different lifestyles and environments. For instance, playtime in a securely fenced backyard allows them to engage in free movement and exploration. Regular walks taken multiple times a day can also provide essential exercise opportunities. Indoor activities can be considered when outdoor space is limited. Games like hide-and-seek chasing a ball along the floor or teaching new tricks can keep them mentally and physically stimulated. Outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking, retrieving balls, or playing with flying discs can offer a higher level of energy expenditure. Even in apartment living short walks in hallways can provide some exercise especially when outdoor conditions are unfavorable. Additionally, participating in dog sports like agility, obedience, and rally training can serve as an excellent outlet for physical exercise and mental stimulation. Historiography

Until a few decades ago, the Danish-Swedish Farmdog, originally known as the Danish Pincher played an integral role in Danish rural life as a working dog on small farms. This versatile breed had various responsibilities including catching mice and rats, herding livestock, assisting in hunting, guarding the property, and serving as a devoted family companion.

With the changing lifestyle and decline of small family farms, the Danish-Swedish Farmdog faced a decline in numbers. However, efforts led by the Danish and Swedish Kennel Clubs aimed to revive and preserve this breed. These efforts culminated in 1987 with the establishment of the first breed standard for the Danish-Swedish Farmdog.

In 1998, the first Danish-Swedish Farmdog was imported to the United States marking the establishment of the breed's official breeding program in the country. The FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) Standard for the breed was officially published on March 26, 2009 providing a comprehensive guideline for breed characteristics.

Recognition and progress continued with the Danish-Swedish Farmdog being recorded in the American Kennel Club Foundation Stock Services in 2011, as its initial step towards the goal of full recognition by the AKC.

These collective efforts reflect the dedication to preserving the Danish-Swedish Farmdog as a valued breed, ensuring its unique qualities and heritage are recognized and appreciated both domestically and internationally.
